The technology is changing the world at a rapid speed. We are always connected, be it through our smartphones or robots. The communication is no longer done face-to-face or even via handwriting, but through voice assistants, text messages and video calls.

The advancement of technology has changed our lives in astonishing ways, improving the quality of life from generation to generation. But it’s not without its risks, especially when it involves jobs. Many worry that new technologies will replace human jobs and this may occur to some degree. We know from history, however that the creation of new jobs can help offset the loss of a few jobs.

We are already experiencing this in the workplace thanks to advances in artificial intelligence and natural language processing and robotics. We are also witnessing the impact of drones, 5G networks, blockchains and quantum computing.

These technologies will revolutionise the business process with increased levels of automation connectivity, security and connectivity. Blockchains for instance are reshaping supply chains by making them more secure and delivering irrefutable transactions’ histories. And 5G will enable businesses to process data closer to where it came from (ultra low latency) and also gain data sovereignty, and improve security by reducing data transmission costs.

Virtual reality and augmented realities are changing the way we interact with devices and information. They create immersive experiences that look and feel like real life. We are also seeing significant advances in areas like gene editing, which may reduce the incidence of genetic diseases such as muscular dystrophy or cystic fibrosis.
